"When I was in Kerala, India, I had a few Ayurvedic massages and I loved them: they were so relaxing and really helped me to feel grounded and cleansed, and gave me a real sense of wellbeing.
I was delighted when I came across Marinella in Bristol and wasn't disappointed in the slightest. I had a pregnancy massage. Marinella made me feel welcome, and at ease straight away and, unlike Ayurvedic massage in India, my modesty was kept intact at all times. I was given sound dietry advice for pregnancy as well as a wonderfully relaxing massage literally from head to toe. I felt the benefits straight away as I had the best sleep I have had in weeks. Thank you Marinella and see you soon!" Lucy
"This pregnancy massage is very relaxing and soothing, with the gentle strokes and lots of warm oil - it really helped me unwind and get some quality rest throughout my pregnancy and the baby usually responded by kicking after the treatment!
I had a weekly treatment from the start of the second trimester to the week the baby was born - and have continued with post natal massages into the 'fourth trimester' to help with the recovery!
I really think that these Ayurvedic massages, along with several reflexology treatments leading up to the birth, really helped ensure a smooth delivery of my baby, after a 5 hour labour with no complications.
I would definitely recommend pregnancy and postnatal treatments with Marinella.”

Ayurvedic Pregnancy Massage
Massage during pregnancy
Massage therapy during pregnancy is a safe and effective way of relieving many of the common pregnancy related discomforts:
• Relieves muscle cramps, spasms, especially in the lower back, neck, hips and legs
• Increases blood and lymph circulation, which can reduce swelling
• Reduces stress on weight-bearing joints
• Improves outcome of labour and eases labour pain
• Helps relaxing the nervous system and the mind
• Promotes more restful sleep and can help preventing pregnancy related insomnia
• Massage may also relax your baby, particularly if you have your abdomen gently stroked.
Regular massage can support you throughout your pregnancy, leaving you feeling great! And a happy mother makes a happy baby!
Ayurveda and Pregnancy
As a holistic medical system Ayurveda, the sister science of Yoga, puts emphasis on both emotional and physical caring practices for the pregnant mother and her unborn child.
According to Ayurveda there is a clear and strong link between the mother’s wellbeing and the health of the baby starting from the implantation process throughout the whole pregnancy. In other words: the baby’s character, physical features and health begin with the mother and her pre-conceptual status and develops throughout the pregnancy months.
Ayurveda recommends plenty of support and nourishment for pregnant women. Mums-to-be give a lot from their vital energy to their baby growing in the womb and massage can help them restore and replenish this essential energy.

Ayurvedic Pregnancy Massage is aimed to support women and to help them preparing for labour emotionally and physically. It works with gentle and repetitive strokes on the whole body, including head, hands and feet that contain some of the densest areas of nerve endings and acupressure points. The repetitiveness of the strokes helps relaxing the nervous system and the mind; the application of warm sesame oil is soothing and nourishing for the skin (and it is great to prevent stretch marks), as well as for the joints and muscles and keeps them supple.
This massage is blissfully comforting and relaxing. It is very helpful in relieving lower back pain and swelling and all other pregnancy related discomforts - and I am fully committed to always customise the treatment to your personal needs.
Ayurvedic Pregnancy Massage is also a very good complement to your Yoga practice and can be carried out safely from the 4th month through to birth.
