Closing the Bones Ceremony

Service Description

This ceremony is inspired by a number of postnatal traditions from around the world, but particularly Latin America and Asia. It has the intention to bring the woman back to herself after the transformative opening (physical, psychological, spiritual) of becoming a mother. It can be done to mark the end of the first 40 days, the 9 months postpartum or even several years after birth! And there are other times when a "closure" is needed and this ceremony can be very healing and a real "homecoming" for the woman: after miscarriage, termination and stillbirth; after adoption; when there are fertility problems; after hysterectomy; after the birth of a big project; after the end of a relationship. As a 1:1: We normally begin with a meditation and some breathing to find an intention for the ceremony and open the 'sacred space'. Then I listen to your birth story and anything else that you feel relevant for our time together. You are then invited to relax and receive a Mayan abdominal massage with warm oil to call in for the 'closing' energies and return your creative energy to your centre, your womb. This is followed by a Sealing Ceremony, where you are 'tucked in' using beautiful scarves around different parts of the body. Whilst you rest in your cocoon of scarves I play and sing some sacred chants for you. Tea and snacks are offered to you when you feel ready as a way to close the ceremony and our time together. In a circle: This is a wonderful ceremony to share with your closest circle of sisters, bringing them together to hold, nurture and celebrate you in your new identity as a mother. Each woman is invited to share their own or favourite poems, stories, gifts, laughers and tears and food...it's a co-created sacred space, always different, always inspiring, always healing. You receive a shorter belly massage with warm oil and the Sealing Ceremony, and I invite some of the women to help me with the wrapping - which can be very moving for everyone. Sacred singing and music is offered whilst you rest after being wrapped. Optional foot or hand massage can be included and performed by other women participants in the circle at the beginning of the circle. Teas and snacks are shared at the end. Please note that the ceremony can be customised if needed and that I will liaise with all your invited women, once you have provided with a contact list, so you can just relax as you wait for that special day.
