"When a baby is born, a mother is also born", however the birth of the mother takes longer than the birth of the baby. It is a cyclical, spiralling journey with its own seasons, an ongoing process of becoming, growth and transformation that takes place over many weeks, months and years - a whole lifetime! This journey embraces multiple domains of existence (physical, spiritual, psychological, cultural, political and so on...) with no specific script, bringing some kind of change in some of them or each of them! It’s called MATRESCENCE ('the time of mother-becoming') and each mother experiences it in her own unique way. So your experience of matrescence is YOUR own and cannot be compared to anyone else's. It is affected by where you live, your socio-economic status, cultural background, the current culture and social media you live in, global events, your relationship status, your support network, your conception/pregnancy/birth experiences, mental health, personal history, sexual orientation and your own unique baby. And with each new baby, your journey starts again. As a mother you are always navigating endings and beginnings, as you grow alongside your children: each of your child's developmental stages is a new phase of your matrescence journey too; you are forever a new mother. By understanding the seasons of your matrescence, you can create an inner map that can help you navigate the many radical changes and transformations of your journey, and fully access your inner authority and intuition. Matrescence is a revolutionary approach to motherhood, on an individual and cultural level, as it normalises the challenges that mothers go through as they expand in their new identity; it gives them a way to be seen, heard and witnessed; it liberates them from old taboos and myths like 'the good mother' created by the suppressive patriarchal system. I invite you to explore and unravel your journey with me through a combination of self-inquiry, coaching, journaling, self-care practices and rituals focusing on your own specific challenges, needs and questions. £75 for a one-off 1hr session, £195 for 3 sessions, or £380 for 6 sessions to be used within 6 months, all paid in advance.
